New
- Pinching is a camera move. As you pinch the Desk, windows scale with their tiles, like zooming a photo, then settle at their size when you let go. Windows that change shape show their content at the size it will end up, rather than stretched.
- Pinch and pan need ⌥. Hold ⌥ to pinch or two-finger pan the Desk, so a stray pinch or pan doesn't move your view. To pinch and pan over bare desktop without ⌥, turn on Settings ▸ Gestures ▸ "Pinch or pan on bare desktop without ⌥".
- Full screen. A docked window you take full screen leaves its tile, and comes back to it when you exit full screen. A floating window comes back floating.
- A new app icon.
Improved
- Less work at rest: TrellisWM takes pictures of your windows only while things move (and for previews), and fewer while you pinch or drag the gaps between tiles.
- Windows an app keeps on top of everything (Google Meet's picture in picture) are left alone, and TrellisWM's Settings stays above your arranged windows.
Fixed
- Dragging a window onto another display keeps it under the pointer where you picked it up. It could jump away from the pointer as it crossed.
- A tab torn out of Chrome is carried like any dragged window: drop it on a tile or a group, and it docks or joins there.
- A window that grew past the size TrellisWM thought was its maximum fills its tile again.
- A window closed while its Space was out of view no longer stays behind as a tile that can't be closed.
- Switching Spaces no longer brings the other Space's hidden tabs and windows over, untabbed.
- A display switched to another Space while its windows were still arriving docks them once they turn up.
- Sizing a screenshot selection with two fingers no longer zooms your windows.
- Window pictures no longer show a window shrunk while it's being resized, and previews show their own app's icon.
- Settings' menu bar preview is drawn at the right size on non-Retina displays.
- A license key that can't be activated now says why, and keys no longer fail to activate on a Mac whose name is empty or very long.

Improved
- See where a window will land before you let go. Hold a dragged window over a spot for a moment, and the windows making room for it are resized to their new shapes, so you see the layout as it will be.

New
- Getting Started. After setup, a card under TrellisWM's menu bar icon shows four first moves, one at a time, each with a short clip. Make them on your own windows and they're ticked off. Start it again any time from Settings ▸ General.
- Menu bar controls, your way. Choose which controls show (back and forward, saved views, the Desktop, everything, TrellisWM's menu) and drag them into the order you want in Settings. An update shows as a dot on TrellisWM's icon.
- A shorter menu. Moving around is the controls' and shortcuts' job; their menu items appear only while a control is hidden. Saved views are in one submenu.
- Every command is a URL (Pro), for Raycast, Alfred and Shortcuts. The full list is in the guide.
- The guide is a click away: in the menu, in Settings ▸ General, and at the end of setup.
- About TrellisWM shows the version, as does Settings ▸ General.
- Settings can turn back on the macOS features that setup turned off, for anyone who wants them back or is uninstalling.
- Setup no longer arranges every window at the end: your windows stay as they are until you dock one.
Pictures in motion
- Fit is the new default: windows scale evenly as their tiles change, pinned to the top-left, rather than stretching. Stretch is still there. If you chose it before, you keep it.
Fixed
- Chrome and Electron apps (Slack, Discord and others) tile properly while accessibility apps like 1Password or Wispr Flow are running. They could end up the wrong size, in the wrong place, or off-screen.
- Apps are no longer treated as too big for tiles they fit in. Minimum sizes learned wrongly now come back down, so windows shown as an icon can be live again.
- With more than one display, windows TrellisWM tucks away no longer show up on a neighbouring display, jump between displays, or flash over and over.
- Chrome stays in its tab group when TrellisWM restarts.
- Grabbing a window with Chrome in the background no longer lags, zooms into another window, or leaves the window undocked over your tiles.
- Back after a restart returns to the view you started on.
- Dragging a window over the tiles: windows making room no longer jump in size before settling, and tab bars no longer flash white.
